Lifestyle Occupational Therapy/OT Coaching

With foundations based in Occupational Science, Occupational Therapists focus on maximising performance and function so clients can live life to its fullest. Utilising Clinical Occupational Therapy skills and a lifestyle modification approach, I help people modify their lifestyle and learn healthy ways of living. This can be combined with a Wellness Coaching program.

The initial consultation involves an assessment of occupational roles (‘occupation’ being all activities that we participate in, not just paid employment) at home, at work and in the community. This first session is usually conducted in the client’s home so that lifestyle issues related to their living environment can be readily identified.

Follow up sessions may be required, depending on the complexity of the lifestyle factors identified and strategies required for modification. If necessary, a workplace visit can also be undertaken to assess their work environment (e.g. ergonomics, manual tasks).

A treatment plan may include any of the following:  stress or pain management; life balance; time management /weekly planning; joint preservation; energy conservation; support to modify eating habits; sleep improvement routine; injury prevention or injury management techniques; functional movement strategies; and review or modification of work duties or workplace ergonomics.

I also offer group health and wellness education seminars regarding workplace injury prevention, ergonomics and optimal posture
