What is Wellness Coaching?

Are you wanting to create a future you’ll love to live in? Would you like to take control of your health and wellbeing? Would you love to find your purpose, gain energy and vitality, get more active, eat healthier, reduce stress or achieve life balance?

But you feel bombarded with information about health and wellbeing, and confused about where to start with making positive lifestyle changes, and making them stick? If so, then Wellness Coaching may just be for you!

Sustainable change isn’t easy, but IT IS possible.

Wellness Coaching connects the dots between where your wellness is at now and where you’d like it to be.

Both my Occupational Therapy background and Wellness Coaching training has lead me to view health and wellness from an holistic perspective, looking at the whole person and what it means to thrive mentally, physically and spiritually. Whilst Wellness Coaching combines theory from Coaching Psychology, Behaviour Change, Positive Psychology and Motivational Interviewing, it is not counselling or therapy and does not treat mental health conditions. Whilst identifying past learnings and strengths is part of the process, wellness coaching focuses more on the present and the future, rather than the past.

As your Health and Wellness Coach I will work alongside you to create your wellness vision, by helping you discover what you want, why you want it (and how that aligns with your purpose and values), and what’s stopping you.

Then, together we’ll create a step-by-step action plan so that you can reach your health and wellness goals. As the client, you’re the ‘expert’ about what works best for you, and I won’t ‘tell you what to do’. Advice is only offered (and with your permission) if you can’t come up with your own answers .

I’ll be there to support, guide and cheer you on, but you’re the one in control and responsible for behaviour change (you’ll be in the driver’s seat and I’ll be the navigator helping you along your journey to wellness).

So What’s Wellness Anyway?

Health and Wellness mean different things to different people, but here’s a couple of ‘official’ definitions:

"...a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."

What to Expect

Wellness Questionnaire

Prior to the initial consultation, you will be asked to complete a confidential Wellbeing Questionnaire to assess where you’re at with various aspects of your wellness, what’s important for you to change and how confident you are with changing at the moment.

Initial Consultation

This initial session takes up to 90 minutes. We will review your questionnaire together, discuss where you’re at and the areas you’d like to change. We’ll create your wellness vision for the future, identifying what you want to achieve and the deeper reasons why.

We will develop a wellness action plan with clear, measurable three-month goals (including overcoming any challenges), then break these down into smaller, weekly or two weekly goals with step by step actions.

Follow-up sessions

We will review your wellness plan and short-term goals regularly to keep you on track, work through any barriers, plus tick off and celebrate your achievements. Then we’ll work out the next new goals and actions so that you keep working towards turning your vision into reality.

Health and Wellness Coaching is not a quick fix and I offer a program of 12 weeks, but there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, so I also offer a 4 week mini program. Some clients need less coaching, others may require additional follow up sessions. It all depends on your wellness vision and needs.
